In 1946, when there isn’t any food available in the city, a large part of Tiergarten is divided in plots for sustenance farming. Photographs of people harvesting vegetables in front of the Reichstag or cutting hay in front of the Victoria convey a sense of closure. In 1949 the reforestation begins with the support of the Berliners.
