last weekend matthias lehrberger raised the question of “strategies to transform postmodern stupidity to higher forms”. something i lost concentration on after all that followed and that i tried to recover from the entire sunday whilst 2002’s “equilibrium” crossed my way.
this somehow 1984/matrix-mash-up is not something that i’d explicitly recommend, although, like other movies that were shoot partly in berlin, it provides those funny moments when berlin-buildings are suddenly the ministry of whatever in the evil dystopian state of blabla.
where i’m not a big supporter of contemporary german architecture, i have to admit that for example the “bundestag”-station of underground-line u55 cut quite a figure as central office of a bureaucratic dictatorship. if someone is doing a dystopian movie in hollywood and calls its location scout, is the straight answer, before further requirements are sorted out, “go to germany”?
i don’t know why and what for, but it brought up the idea to mask berlin buildings. and even less i know why i couldn’t stop thinking of what you see below and what i thought it had to be done. but somehow i really felt i’ve come full circle: strategies to transform. postmodern stupidity. and -haha- “higher” forms…
