41) Murder

Everything that happens, happens in Tiergarten.

In early 1919, days after the suppression of the Spartakus insurgency, 100.000 Deutsche Mark is the unofficial reward for capturing and killing the leaders of the Spartakus group. On 15 January, at 20.30 Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht are arrested without a warrant by the Wilmersdorfer Bürgerwehr (Wilmersdorfer vigilantes) at a house of a friend, where they are hiding while finishing their last article for the Rote Fahne, Spartakus newspaper.
They are brought to the Hotel Eden in the Budapester Straße where a rogue section of the Garde-Kavallerie-Schützen-Division is waiting for them. After a perfunctory interrogation performed by captain Waldemar Pabst, at 23.00 Liebknecht is taken out of the hotel through a back door by seven officers (Horst von Pflugk-Harttung, Heinz von Pflugk-Harttung, Rudolf Liepmann, Heinrich Stiege, Bruno Schulze, Ulrich von Rittgen, and Clemens Friedrich). The pretext is to bring him to the prison in Moabit for further interrogation. Liebknecht is then hit with a rifle butt and pulled inside a car. In the car the beating continues. When the car reaches Neuen See inside Tiergarten, the officers fake the car’s breakdown and Liebknecht is forced to get out of the vehicle and continue on foot. He is immediately shot three times in the back at very close range. The official report is that Liebknecht was killed while trying to escape.

The Commando drives back to the Hotel Eden for Rosa Luxemburg. Mistreated, mocked, and then interrogated by Pabst, she is taken out through the main entrance where she loses consciousness after receiving a hard blow to the head and she is carried inside the car. During the ride she is repeatedly beaten with a hard tool and finally shot in the head. The car stops at the Lichtenstein Bridge and the soldiers throw Luxemburg’s body in the Landwehrkanal. The official version is that an angry mob stopped the car and kidnapped her.

The old measure to take out the leaders in order to interrupt a political movement works here efficiently. This is time-machine myth, it takes only one action to end the course of history.41_murder_eden_plan
