Kanzleramt is a combination of modern and postmodern references, with gravitas, transparency and lightness playing an important symbolic role in it. One can observe the rich growth of mildew and moss crawling on the sand stone of the building, especially on its north side. For this reason the Kanzleramt receives a new coat of treatment every now and then.
On the eighth floor there is a triangular bedroom for the chancellor. The story goes that the architects, having Helmut Kohl in mind, originally designed it to contain a perfectly circular bed.
