Christian used to have a house on the top of a hill of a Greek village before the 2010 crisis. The house is Wittgenstein inspired, doesn’t have electricity, the toilet is a dirt field with blotches of heather, water can be found only outside, flowing from a higher spring and gathered in an open rubber tank. The shower is a garden hose hanging from a broom-bush and in the evening it is possible to take a warm shower for a very short time, until the water, heated by the sun during the day, runs out. It’s not advisable to drink that water. The land is rocky, dry and naked, with sparse thorny plants; there isn’t a sign of living animals around, not even birds, only large insects dominate the place: big spiders, their webs intersecting the few dusty trails leading to the house, giant locusts and crickets, constantly laying their eggs in the ground. Scorpions walk the walls at night.
