As the days are getting colder and lights are turned out round 5pm my desire to stay home and cuddle on my sofa become bigger and bigger. Listen to great music, knit my shawl for winter, watch a movie I’ve seen a hundred times again and again. Favorite picks for a night in could be Some Like it Hot, Butch Cassidy and Sundace Kid, Giants or A cat on a hot tin roof. Each one of them are classics in their own league and no matter how many times I have watched them I always find sth great new exciting in them.
I am a great fan of watching movies again and again or rereading your favorite books every once in a while. By getting older my way of thinking or perception of a known subject changes. When I watched ‘Cat on a hot tin roof’ for the 1st time I was a kid and didn’t get anything that movie (or the play by Tennessee Williams) tried to convey. Every time I rewatched it more and more I got the subtle undertones of the plot, the hidden anger of Brick or deep frustration of Maggie and so forth. The movie changes with me in a way.
By being stuck to the internet most of the time, its not-that-social-media, availability of everything online 24/7 I sometimes love to sneak out and close down. Kinda back to basics. Old movies, books, songs. One of my favorite books is High Fidelity by Nick Hornby. The protagonists Top 5 shtick is also a favorite oof mine, so favorite Top 5 Movies eligible for rewatching a hundred times are:
– Cat on a hot tin roof
– Some Like it Hot
– Goodfellas
– We’re no Angels
– The Hustler
