Big

by Amanda Prorok

America is big.

America’s cars are big. The streets are broad. The underground garages are so vast that you get lost, searching for the exit, until finally another car shows up, and you eagerly sneak up from behind in the hope that it will lead you to the sun.

America’s fruits are huge. Mangos are the size of melons. Strawberries the size of my fist. The pumpkins are so big I would probably fit in one.

Portions are positively generous (hail to the doggy bags).

The fridges are double breasted. You could hide in there.

As time stretches, distances shrink. A 1 hour commute is ‘standard’, and a 3 hour drive is ‘short’. LA is SF’s next-door neighbor.

Think big, and maybe you will be rewarded.
