Just saw the new “Carrie” (Original by Brian de Palma from 1976 with Sissy Spacek.) Back then, the evil was the sex, the cheerleader bitches and their violent boyfriends. That was it, kind of an analog evil. The evil now in 2013 is in the cell phone and without the cell phone nothing works anymore. So its Bling Ring kids doing stuff on their cell phones and just one kid that doesn’t (Carrie) because Satan is in the phone. So Carrie doesn’t have a phone. It is a good thing that there are cell phones in “Carrie”, as the whole religious madness is even more disturbing, almost inappropriate, even weirder as an opposite to a way of living in a new, contemporary world. “Carrie” always had a very strange, very american way of telling us about the relationship between religion, sex and the body. Now there is a fourth power in the game. Electronics (phones, texting, you tube) So the new “Carrie” is about religion, sex, the body and phones, the next level of the “evil”, depending how you combine these elements. And let’s not forget all that blood on top of it.
