Charlie’s-Angels-Parking

by Christopher Roth

Last night I met Niklas. He is one of the founders of #60pages. We didn’t hear from him for a long time but he is such a charming and winning person. He is full of stories. His two main topics are cars (and he is an expert in drawing cars) and forged modern art.

Audi Design - gestern - heute - morgen

Last night we talked about the Ro80, one of my favorite cars. He told me that Albert Speer––after coming out of prison––had a Ro80. Speer drove the paintings the Nazis stole from the Jews in his Ro80 to auction houses. Some gallery owner had hidden them for Speer in his attic.

We talked about Pininfarina’s 1971 concept. It was still for NSU––a German car brand. Neckarsulm a is a city close to Stuttgart where the rivers Neckar and Sulm join. And NSU––the car brand––dissolved into Audi in 1977. Nowadays NSU refers to the National Socialist Underground a right-wing extremist group who committed all these xenophobic homicides. The Ro80 was famous for its rotary engine. The Pininfarina concept never made it beyond the prototype. Looking at it you can guess some shades of future cars like the Aston Martin Lagonda or the Cadillac Deville. The one exhibited 1971 in Turin is currently stored in the Audi Museum in Ingolstadt.

Later we (8people) drove with Niklas to the Pauly Bar. In this huge white Chevrolet Caprice with a 500ps V8 motor. Niklas always finds parking spaces right in front of the entrance, aka Charlie’s-Angels-Parking.
