Conservatism kills

by Guel Riz

Three different topics which seemed to have no connections in the first place got linked to each other somehow in my head. It made me think loosely about Mandela, utter assholes, injustice, refugees from Syria in Istanbul, the responsibility of all of us to help somehow, dumb ass politicians and so forth. It started with No. 1 on Friday:

Nelson Mandela died. It is everywhere in the news and on FB. Everybody is posting something which was read, reminded them of or had to do with Mandela. Turkish newspaper Hurriyet refused to write about his death on the front page on Saturday supposedly because he rejected the Atatürk Peace Prize back in 1992 and they still seemed to hold a grudge. Der SPON wrote that Mandela was once hated by thatcher, FJ Strauss und Ronald Reagan all at the same time.

‘The ANC is a typical terror organization and anyone who believes they could run South Africa is living in Lala-Land.’ Thatcher 1987

The abolition of Apartheid is irresponsible and the equality of the black majority (!) is not desirable’, Franz Josef Strauss, jet-black christian conservative of the CSU until his death in the 80s, once said in 1988. Strauss was an utter politician asshole and never withhold his far right wing opinions. Now his party colleague Hans-Peter Friedrich of the CSU is referring to the turkish and migrant community in Germany and by chance he keeps the term minority here and not majority.

„ If we are granting millions of people the dual citizenship which will be passed on ( to following generations), then we will have a steady turkish minority in Germany.“

In terms of Thilo Sarrazin, another upright right wing utter politician asshole of the (ta daa) SPD, it would say that the turks are going to be the majority in Germany and that Germany is abolishing itself if they are not prevented. I will not quote Sarrazin’s ‘provocative’ thoughts on this topic as this would give him more space than he deserves.

The conservative thinking of these assholes made me think about topic No.2 which came up that day:

On friday a very dear friend of mine calls me in tears to say that the situation in Syria is getting more and more out of hand and the city where the families of syrian friends of her live in is under permanent attack. She used to live in Syria and has a lot of bonds to the country and to hear and feel the stress and grief of her friends loosing their family members is heart wrenching. Another friend asked me last week if I know anyone at the german embassy here. I said no and asked why and she told me that the 18 year old pregnant cousin of a syrian friend of hers in Hamburg fled to Istanbul from Syria with her husband. She is now living here under unbearable circumstances and my friend is now helping her to get a visa to Germany SOMEHOW as she doesn’t know anyone in Istanbul, can’t go back to Syria and her only relatives are living in Germany. I told her that right now it is like close to impossible to get a visa to Germany especially if you are syrian AND pregnant.

Another friend told me another heart wrenching story. A syrian mother with two daughters started to work for her last summer. They fled Syria from Damascus and a european woman gave them shelter in Istanbul for a few months. The situation became unbearable there and they had to leave the house in order to be homeless. A friend of a friend intervened and found them an apartment where already other three syrian families were living. Altogether they are 15 persons. The apartment has four rooms, a kitchen and one bathroom. They are more than happy to be living there now because before you were reliant on the good will of that woman which wasn’t good will at all. The mother is a teacher, the husband a doctor, one daughter is now accepted to Hongkong University with a scholarship for engineering and the other daughter is accepted to Bilgi University in Istanbul, a prestigious university here, also with a scholarship.

And here we get to No. 3.: The connection: On Friday I read that the Europan Union will grant turkish citizen a visa-free entry to Schengen when Turkey agrees to take back the refugees who fled to Europe via Turkey. Which sounds like a victory for turkish people to get rid of the visa duty is a victory for the interior ministers of the EU in order to make the fence of the european castle even higher. In this case they are allowed to send refugees back when when it is provable that they came to let’s say Greece via Turkey.

It is beyond belief a god-damn KUHHANDEL as they are giving away peanuts to citizens of one country which is dumb enough to take them and are blocking several millions of citizens of other countries who are forced to flee their countries. Germany’s Interior Minister Hans-Peter Friedrich boasted himself a few months ago with having granted 5,000 Syrian asylum seekers refuge in Germany. In Turkey right now more than 600,000 (!!!!) refugees from the civil war-torn country are living under better for worse conditions. No humanitarian crisis no matter how huge will make EU change its asylum law/policy. The change of the asylum law back in 1993 in Germany was the blueprint for the rest of Europe and the german politicians are boasting themselves for this achievement which led to tragedies like several times in Lampedusa and many other.

European countries’ warfare exports to countries like Syria, Libya, Egypt, Sudan, Kongo and so forth are paving the way for the killing and leading to the fleeing of the people and then asylum seeking statuses. Europe is a playing a major part in the destruction of their countries and then their refusal to enter the castle. It is beyond belief an injustice to say that Europe is doing enough.

Nelson Mandela was fighting for the freedom of black people in South Africa and for the freedom of suppressed people in all dictatorial regimes. Syrians are fleeing their country because the suppressive Assad regime is dedicated to hold on to power, demolishes the country and killing thousands of people. German politicians and many german citizens are fearing to be overrun by the refugees of the countries they once worked closely together with or were friendly attached to. Turkish politicians and many turkish citizens are not supporters of Turkey’s admission to the EU but still the politicians believe that they are treated as eligible partners for the admission which is total bollocks in my opinion. Anyone who can sign an agreement like the aforementioned is not eligible for whatsoever and they also should live by the rule of Groucho Marx who doesn’t want to belong to any club that would accept him as one of its members.

Who is the suppressor and who is the suppressed?

This piece got longer then I expected and I forgot what I wanted to say with it ( if I haven’t already said it) or if it has a conclusion. It doesn’t have to have one I guess because the real life situation has no conclusion either. The injustice proceeds no matter what we write. Conservatism kills: Utter assholes can determine the fates of  millions of people. Citizens of free countries are loosing interest in conflicted countries as long as nothing major is happening. Nelson Mandela now is commemorated by conservative politicians David Cameron and Horst Seehofer as a brave wise leader after he was imprisoned for 27 years by the apartheid regime. Everybody writes Free Nelson Mandela as their statuses and as a pop reference. The world is cruel. Big whoop.
