What is undeground if the world goes down? A question that popped up loomed inside my head two years ago. Don’t know whether it had to do with the Maya or the fact that everything related to electronic music became ‘deeper’, ‘darker’ and more ‘original’ or ‘straight forward’ than any detroit techno track from back in the days ever could have been in the first place (I’m not talking about the difference between original and copy like Han does).
Two years later: Our world & lots of records are still turning all over the globe and the last track of the night is not even close to be dug out. We surpassed 2012 and 2013, the year of the snake while ‘EDM‘ or ‘House’ Music (you could even call it ‘Underground’ Techno) turned into a fat capitalistic medusa, twisting even the last sound bite into a dead president, leaving nothing but waste and slag behind when she’s done with eaten up your favourite label. The friendly fire besides her is steadily kept hot and flavoured by boiled rooms, advised residues and the rest of us talkative 24h party people.
If you’re part of that global ball game (some call it trade and fade) you can either lose track of the score and become a hermit, living on cosmic energy solely. Or you step up and bring your own greek mythology into play. Why not use gold against gold to saturate all those shiny surfaces and fake bling out there?
It’s time for MIDAS: The mighty king who turns every thursday night into gold. In this case we ain’t talking gold bars but black gold, so every Disc Jockey still spinning records is provided with the main ingredient to do so: Vinyl. Midas is founded by Tara Hill and Dominic Fábian – two local Disc Jockeys, promoters and activists, who stand for quality dance music with an affinity for Techno and House from overseas and beyond. Tonight they invited three guests from Berlin, Zurich and Basel: Eli Verveine & Oscar Schubaq from Tardis Records and Morard from Traxx Up!! What more can I say? If you like it deep, it can’t go any deeper than our basement club. Take a whiz and enter our golden chamber like there’s no C.R.E.A.M. on earth for one night, only deepness and dancers.
