Austria is pretty weird. You probably guessed that hearing about the scary kidnapping of Natascha Kampusch or -even worse- the years of torture Josef Fritzl put his daughters through. Writing these lines and names I just realize, “weird” is not the right term to get across the dark side (and the flipside: the loveliness of the country.) “Fucked up” fits much better I guess.
More proof? On Tuesday the police joined forces with the Cobra (an Austrian SWAT) to catch a poacher. In the last years a lot of decapitated deer was found in the woods and the authorities were alerted. Heads missing. It turned out, that was not enough warning. In a 12-hour manhunt the poacher shot three cops and a paramedic. He ended his own life by setting himself on fire.
