It feels like i am in a baseball field when i am dealing with my emails and text messages: just keep hitting the balls as fast as it flies in. In the past years, I am proud to have developed a way to make the most efficient way to answer all my emails and text messages. First, answer as soon as they come in. Second, answer as short and concise as possible. Third, do not respond to complicated messages. Lastly, do it while you are walking.
This perfectly streamlined system, which my German-Korean husband would be very proud of, falls completely apart when I face Sayhyun, my little 4-month old son. He would not laugh even if I give him the most condensed version of pikaboo. He would not bother swallowing milk faster even if I am already 30 minutes late for my meeting. For him, he only responds to the most inefficient system of love. More relaxed I am or longer time I spend with him doing absolutely nothing, his little smile would come back.
Maybe I will miss a meeting or two. Or i could be letting go of some well-paying clients. But thanks to him, he keeps me human, and he lets me see the moments and not the minutes.
