Ponza, day 1

by Stefano Sardo

if you want to reach the Island of Ponza – which is what all the people invited to Ludovica’s wedding is supposed to do – you should reach the port of Anzio or Formia, and there you can take a hyrdoplane or a fast ship to the island. Friday morning Valentina (my girglfriend) and I, we wake up at 6 in the morning and put our luggages, including our wedding clothes, in the car, and we drive (well, she drives) toward Anzio. Weather is so and so, the sea is way and the trip is quiet unpleasant, but when we reach Ponza a shiny sun comes out, and a couple of hours laters we’re swimming in the warm, blue, Mediterraneus sea. Wedding is tomorrow (saturday) but a bunch of us has taken the chance of the weeding for this one-day-holiday and thanks to the weather we feel blessed for this decision. I wrote my wedding speech yesterday and I feel peaceful, finally.

The dinner takes place in this amazing place called Enzo’s. This small, familiar restaurant is literally built inside the island’s rocks. It’s a cave, basically, lighted by candles, and you can reach it only via sea. We’re 19, our skins made golden by the sun, our smiles showing the pleasure of being together. Enzo’s fish is fresh, the wine is ok, cold enough to leave no regrets. Ludovica and Nicola, the bride and the groom.  It’s just a perfect time.
