Granny’s soul

by Maryam Zaree

Close friend, who is six years younger than me, has called me a granny lately, not a mom or an aunty but literally a granny. And only cause I thought it’s gross to wake up in the morning to go to Berghain. (It was afternoon, even grosser). It’s true that most pop and mainstream culture events pass me by. Some time ago I was kindly asked by my friend to stop sending YouTube videos people were posting years ago. The bitch who told me, he is turning forty soon.
I also did this test people posted on Facebook where your mental age is calculated and every ones result was like twelve and people thought that was so true and so funny. Mine was 32. I am 30 now, that’s two years older!!!
I don’t get it I’m totally young, there is like nothing grown up about me. I even look young. At least I thought so until a guy I know briefly burst out laughing when I invited him to my thirties birthday party. He thought I’m joking, that I was waaaay older than him. He was 34.
