25 years ago, on the 29th of october 1988, the east-berlin newspaper “berliner zeitung” writes about the start of the unamnned soviet spacecraft “buran” at baikonur. buran (russian: Бура́н) translates snowstorm. the picture below the note “heute zweimal um die erde” is labeled “Tyuratam Space Assembly and Launch Complex. Courtesy of Soviet Military Power, 1984. Photo No. 118, pages 102 and 103” and was put in the internet by the u.s. intelligence agency “d.i.a.”.
