Kybernetik und Re(h)volution

by Tobias Holzer

It was already yesterday when I began this flaschenpost about all those bigger and smaller ideas and thoughts in my head. I tried die deutsche Ausdrucksform but could not finish my mental Autobahn express ride (either I was too ermürbt or too unbeholfen). Still, I love the german language for so many reasons (especially its ability to express thoughts in such a distinct way).

Where was I yesterday? I was sitting on a bench in a random street in Basel, when a craftsman crossed the sidewalk besides me. He was wearing a grey trouser and a blueish jersey with boosted shoulder parts. Instead of a name badge it said Kybernetik AG  on his jersey, placed right upon his heart (link: do not let it worry you, read without fear: eloquent thoughts mean TIME, mean possible answers for any implied movement to be overcome). I was puzzled and did not know how to behave. When he was coming out of the building he just went in before, I asked him, who he’s working for. I was releaved when he told me, his company was in charge for cold, heat and comfort and not prime in operation to turn mother nature into a giant algorithm, designed to create a new alliance between mebrane, robots and mental constitutions, such as the human brain (maybe he was more the nano type of craftsman).

Speaking of algorithms and rhythms in general: Let me introduce you to the Rehbellen Crew: A collaborative of musicians, disc jockeys, graphic designers, artists and good people, devouted to rhythm and form in all its forms. Tonight, two of them are going deep into the undeground to meet king Midas for some proper techno, freshly imported from Berlin, where HerrrouineGomorra & Ernst Herr spent the last days digging and looking for new sounds in and around Panorama Bar and all those places in space that make daylight invisible or at least unnecessary for the time being. If you need to go home at one point tonight, groundhog’s techno day begins again tomorrow: OPES – their own label night at Ladybar (returning every month to our beloved place), is on this friday the 31st for your dance & ear pleasures solely. There, Herrrouine and Gomorra will burn down any last bridges to unnecessary sounds and melodies – together with their partners in crime Milos D and Press C.

No more words needed, forget about all that cybernetic war fairy tales and come by to see what you can do with drum machines, synthesis, effects and proper mixing skills to make people move and jack things like it’s the D back in the days when Juan went over to see Derrick & they turned all kind of knobs and weird japanese machines upside down to create a sound called..
