Lichtenberg 47

SV Lichtenberg 47 is a sports club with mainly footballers among its 900 members. The other departments are bowling, boxing, aerobics, gymnastics, line dancing, table tennis, and volleyball.
The club was established in 1945 as Sportgruppe Lichtenberg-Nord in the Russian-occupied East Berlin and in 1947 it merged with more clubs from the area as Sportgemeinschaft Lichtenberg 47. From 1949 to 1969 it was called Sport Club Lichtenberg then merged again with the worker’s club Betriebssportgemeinschaft Elektroproject und Anlagebau Berlin to form BSG EAB Lichtenberg.
In 1979 it was renamed BSG EAB Berlin 47.

In the season 1950/51 the footballers were in East Germany’s top league.
That was the time when it was called Sport Club Lichtenberg.

After German reunification in 1990, and the subsequent merger of the football leagues, the club adopted the name Sportverein Lichtenberg and played the Amateur Oberliga Nordost-Mitte (III). By the mid-1990s the SV had descended to the Landesliga Berlin (VI). The 47 was put back to the name and the SV Lichtenberg 47 recovered winning the championship of the Verbandsliga Berlin climbing to the Oberliga Nordost-Nord (IV).
