Magic Box

by Maryam Zaree

I went to see a movie today. I am not going to tell you which one cause it’s not so important. What is important is going to the movies, to sit in the dark for two or three hours, to go in as someone and leave as someone else.
When the streetlights are different, the night has started and you walk with insecure steps the road you know by heart. Watching your life, with estranged eyes but enriched with someone else’s. I got home and cried I couldn’t tell why. It was one of these rare moments when you realize you’re alive and you feel how unbearably beautiful and endlessly sad that is.
Movie theaters are magic boxes I hope they never die.
