Method Acting Architecture vs. Epic Theatre

by Nikolai von-Rosen

Bildschirmfoto 2013-11-12 um 22.46.41Here you can see an image of a new building by Edouard Francois, a master of semantics shifting Architecture. Three structures stacked: a 1920´s row-housing situation, a block of the 60´s and cheap prefabricated houses of the 80´s. Housing that imitates archetypes of 20th century housing. Self explaining, a triadic ballet of housing in general. Maybe at this point, my motivation to find examples of Method Acting Architecture ended up with quite the opposite: architecture that is rather like the Epic Theatre of Bertolt Brecht. It is, what it is, self referential, and by this, the opposite of Method Acting. I got confused by this thought. Let me figure it out: but not before tomorrow.
