Mocca’s

by Amanda Prorok

Completely unexpectedly, squeezed in between the likes of Chanel and Hermès on a small pedestrian alley just off busy Union Square, lies Mocca, an Italian deli. Its cluster of little round tables and garden chairs dominates most of Maiden Lane. A musician jazzes away on his double bass. He keeps his dreadlocks out of his face while he sings surprisingly sweet melodies. In the background you hear the roar of fancy cars crossing into and out of the financial district. Ahead of you lies the confusion of Chinatown.
A bit of Chicago, Shanghai, Italy and New York – this is San Francisco.
