museum of loneliness

by Chris Petit

MoL has, it thinks, worked out something interesting about NADA. It’s not the opponent he attacks, it is the ball. The ball is there to be hit away. The opponent is whoever turns up. The ball is always the same. With the others it is different. There is a psychology, a reading of the game, as there is with NADA, but less so. You hear so much bullshit talked by commentators in terms of mindset and bureaucratic sports management and calibrations. MURR’s game is not about the ball but his state of mind. NADA is about the ball and only the ball. NADA is the best because he has the least bullshit. Doesn’t have his own rock band or anything. NADA says: I am on the ball. He loses when he stops thinking about the ball.
