Most things can be shown to connect up. Ade Edmondson won Celebrity Master Chef last night. Cooking has been the new porno for some time. Nigella did what might be called blow-job cooking, full of suggestive burlesque. But Celebrity Master Chef shows how the process has become standard. CMC is full of the porno equivalent to the come shot. The two judges are a wonderfully seedy pair, behaving like a cross between pantomime dames and retired porno stars; so roguish and knowing. It’s terribly watchable in that it’s terrible and watchable. Years ago when I was making film films a young actor was recommended to me. His name was Adrian Edmondson. Nothing happened and we never met to discuss the part. The film was called Flight to Berlin (1983) and for the first time in forever there is a screening of it next week at the Goethe Institute in London. I am sure it is not a good film. The point is, in terms of connections, the assistant director on that film was a Christopher Roth.
