Usually two to three days before Christmas I am overwhelmed by a very strong feeling that pops up every year. I HAVE to do Butterbredele (the Alsacian word for Mailänderli in Swissgerman, which are Christmas cookies that originate from Alsace in France). Or the world will go under.
As far as I can remember, I’ve been doing Butterbredele since I’m a little child. And because it’s again Christmas (or it was) and because I didn’t grow much in between and because I don’t want to lose this very precious personal tradition I HAVE to do Butterbredele. It’s as simple as that. Except that nobody else than me is capable of understanding this rational thinking.
I wonder whether one might call it CDCCCB or “Culturally Determined Christmas Cookies Compulsive Behavior”. To be continued…
