New Italian Cinema I would recommend

by Stefano Sardo

Today I feel bad. Horrible nausea. I think I have been poisoned. So maybe I have to talk about something else: not me, for once. I think I should mention some interesting Italian films you might want to discover, from the last 5 years. I guess you don’t know much about Italian contemporary cinema and maybe to hearing about it from me makes sense… I think I can write down a list of a few interesting italian films you might never heard about it.

IL DIVO by Paolo Sorrentino, 2008

UNA VITA TRANQUILLA (a Quiet Life) by Claudio Cupellini, 2010

ALI’ HA GLI OCCHI AZZURRI (Alì has blue eyes) by Claudio Giovannesi, 2012

LA DOPPIA ORA (the Double Hour) by Giuseppe Capotondi, 2009

IL PRANZO DI FERRAGOSTO (Mid-August Lunch) by Gianni di Gregorio, 2009

MIELE (Honey) by Valeria Golino, 2013

SCIALLA! (Be cool) by Francesco Bruni, 2011

GOMORRA by Matteo Garrone, 2008

VINCERE! (To Win!) by Marco Bellocchio, 2009

IO SONO L’AMORE (I am Love) by Luca Guadagnino, 2009

It’s not a complete list (I know I forgot stuff) but it’s just to start.
