Not so long ago,

by Christopher Roth

when Colorado Democrats debated gun control and Second-Amendment rights the Centennial Gun Store in the Denver suburbs became the place to be. Gun-cretins cleared the shop of assault rifles. People who had never owned a gun went because “they didn’t want the government telling them what to do.”

In the end the Democrats passed some gun laws, including a ban on magazines that hold more than 15 rounds. Outraged gun-freaks collected signatures to recall four legislators, two of the bids were successful, and voters will be asked if they want to fire their state senators. This only happened 36 times in American history, half of them in Wisconsin.
Colorado was for a long time one of the swing states, now it has shifted to the left. Democrats and Republicans are further apart than anywhere else but California. Republicans drift to the right since the 1990s, their unelectable jerks let the Democrats now control all three arms of government.

We went to the Bud Shop in Telluride to buy something and pay tribute to the new law but only got a t-shirt. You still need a doctor’s prescription to buy marijuana. “And the next doctor is far away,” the nice bearded man in the basement told us. He had a huge and friendly dog and apologized for having to finish a test on his computer.
No problem Sir, next January the law has passed. We’ll be back.
