The Bundestagswahlkreis (federal electoral district) Berlin-Lichtenberg (Wahlkreis/ Constituency 86) is one of Berlin’s twelve constituencies for elections to the German Bundestag and includes the Lichtenberg district.

Thus, Gesine Lötzsch (DIE LINKE) won again the direct mandate constituency for Berlin-Lichtenberg.
DIE LINKE (The Left) came out of the PDS (Partei des Demokratischen Sozialismus) which came out of the SED (Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands)

After the wall came down in 1989, the SED lost its position as the ruling state party, and decided on a new program in December 1989. The party renamed itself in SED-PDS, Socialist Unity Party-Party of Democratic Socialism. On February4, 1990 the SED was cut, and it was just called PDS. In 2007 the PDS merged with the WASG (Arbeit & soziale Gerechtigkeit – Die Wahlalternative) and formed DIE LINKE.
Since June 2012, Sahra Wagenknecht lives with Oskar Lafontaine in Silwingen, in the Saarland near the French border.
