Sans Titre

by Maryam Zaree

Sometimes or let’s say most of the time someone has put in words, form or action something you have been carrying with you forever. You stumble over it and go like: Yes that’s exactly what I meant.
But before that you fight with finding the perfect example to make your point clear. In my case due to my lack of basic mathematical understanding I got stuck with this:
Whenever it came to discrimination or persecution of any minority it seemed to me logical to use the function X as in math to evaluate that it wasn’t important if confronted with anti-Semitism or antiziganism or homophobia or racism or sexism or etc. but it was the concept that had to be fought. And if we had learned anything from this last century full of atrocities it would be to don’t make the distinctions who to stand up for but to stand up when faced with it. Simply said I don’t have to be a woman to fight sexism, or jewish to be outraged by anti-semitism. Simple point but crucial to make clear. And then some time ago I stumbled over a piece by Bruno Peinado which says it all.
