The Anomaly

by Amanda Prorok

According to Vint Cerf, Google’s chief internet evangelist, and one of “the fathers of the Internet”, Privacy is an anomaly. His view-point is that privacy is an artifact of technology in the first place (in the olden days, everyone knew all the time what everyone else was up to). It is a side-effect of the anonymity that arose through urbanization and increased human density.

But maybe privacy is a void that technology has failed to fill. Privacy is a concept that social norms have still not adapted to. Privacy is a revolution that has not yet happened, an innovation that has yet to take place.
