The new Twitter

by David Iselin

It was a Thursday afternoon in August in San Francisco. The boats in the race for the America’s Cup were chasing each other in the bay. We had rented bikes. It was windy. Headwind anywhere we went. Good for the boats (as they were enigmatically always coming in our direction wherever we went). I had the very good idea of cycling to the headquarters of #Twitter. The idea was to take a picture of the Twitter logo and post it on Facebook stating “Take this, Facebook”. We didn’t find the headquarters. Maybe they were somewhere else, somewhere good. Or the hills were too steep. Or Twitter is not really located where they pretend to be. Or the wind was too strong. Never found out. I am, what you call, a Twitter addict (passive, not very active). First thing in the morning: checking for all the wonderful information intelligent people gathered for me worldwide. My personal(ised) newspaper. Then came 60pages. Then came 60picks. And now, in a way, my addiction ceased a little. (Facebook is deadly boring anyway since everybody’s behaving like being professionally on Linkedin). I have to read (36 people now). And I have to write (which can be hard). The days of passive addiction are gone. We live in the times of active addiction now. At least for 60days.
