The Soderbergh Table

Last night we went to party with HBO. Amazing party room, everything was done in peacock feather colour. Interior designer Billy Butchkavitz knows, that Hollywood does NOT appreciate any kind of understatement. HBO won, big time, Jeff Daniels ran around like a crazy person, as he got the Emmy for “Newsroom”, Jane Fonda appeared in a see through dress looking hotter than girls 30 years younger than her. (Still the Aerobic body and she plays in “Newsroom” too) Mick Jagger stayed only for 15 Minutes, but never mind. Everybody tried to get to the Soberbergh table, where Steven and Michael Douglas and Matt Damon celebrated winning the Emmy for “Behind the Candelabra”, the gay drama, the life of Liberace, played by Michael Douglas. (Half naked with wigs on.) Back to the table:  Douglas was shy. He tried his best, he made two russian girls happy, as they could take a picture with him. But then he disappeared, running away from the iPhone-picture-army, who tried to catch him. The man of the moment was Mr. Soderbergh. Sleek, skinny, shaved head. Looking good, like a cool fox who survived everything so far. He was NOT in the mood to talk about TV. “It was a looong day. I can’t talk right now and you really want to make me work?” Mr. Soderbergh said as I asked him to answer my questions about TV, but of course Mr. Soderbergh was flattered at the same time, that someone would ask him questions about the future of TV even while partying and he was not REALLY mad at me, he just played being mad. Besides, I was NOT the only one. There was a line of 20 men, in black suits behind me, that had tons of theories and questions about TV, that Mr. Soderbergh was supposed to answer for them. So last night, people came to the Soderbergh table like they would visit a psychic. Or a fortune teller. Steven, what is the future of Hollywood? Of TV ? Of God? Of the world? Mr. Soderbergh made it clear: the future wouldn’t be THE MOVIE anymore and then he drank another glass.
